Midnight Sun Mining: Transformative Copper Discoveries in the Heart of Zambia
Jurisdiction
Midnight Sun Mining operates in Zambia’s world-renowned Copperbelt, one of the richest copper-producing regions globally. Zambia offers a stable regulatory framework under the Mines and Minerals Development Act and a mining-friendly government that views copper as vital to its economic development. The country hosts major producers like Barrick, First Quantum, and Anglo American, and benefits from robust infrastructure, skilled local workforce, and proximity to smelters.
Project Portfolio & Resource Potential
Midnight Sun holds two extensive and highly prospective land packages in Zambia: the flagship Solwezi Project, adjacent to First Quantum’s massive Kansanshi Mine, and the newly acquired Luswishi Dome Project.
The Solwezi property features multiple copper targets at various stages of advancement:
Dumbwa: A 20 km+ copper-in-soil anomaly hosting a basement-hosted sulphide system with drill intercepts such as 16m of 1.24% Cu and 13.5m of 0.77% Cu. It is considered a direct geologic analog to Barrick’s 1.62 Bt Lumwana Mine.
Kazhiba: A new sulphide and oxide copper target with strong IP geophysical anomalies and leach sampling. Drill results include 21m @ 10.69% Cu, 26m @ 5.6% Cu, and 15m @ 3.01% Cu.
Mitu: Known for both oxide and sulphide copper zones, with drill intercepts such as 11.6m @ 3.44% Cu and 11.5m @ 1.41% Cu. It also includes cobalt and nickel credits.
Grade & Geology
The company’s targets sit within the prolific Lower Roan stratigraphy and display characteristics similar to the world’s largest basement-hosted copper systems. Midnight Sun is pursuing discoveries of both near-surface oxide copper for short-term production and deeper sulphide bodies for long-term scalability.
Geophysical and geochemical work is conducted under the guidance of COO Dr. Kevin Bonel, credited with transforming Lumwana into a Tier-One asset.
Infrastructure & Access
The Solwezi Project is less than 6 km from First Quantum’s Kansanshi SX/EW plant and is connected via an existing haul road. The project benefits from immediate proximity to major operating mines, highways, power infrastructure, and a trained workforce based in the town of Solwezi.
Management & Technical Team
Led by CEO Al Fabbro and supported by a seasoned team including exploration veteran Robert Sibthorpe and COO Dr. Kevin Bonel, Midnight Sun combines capital markets acumen with deep geological expertise. The advisory board includes top names in discovery, finance, and corporate development, many of whom were instrumental in building Roxgold and other notable resource companies.
Market Position & Strategic Partners
Midnight Sun is one of the few juniors with a Cooperative Exploration Agreement with a major: First Quantum. The agreement could allow for near-term oxide copper production via toll milling at Kansanshi, creating potential cash flow with minimal capex.
With a market cap of ~$120M, the company has already grown 900% in under 12 months and is recognized as a 2025 TSX Venture Top 50 Company.
Growth & Near-Term Catalysts
Ongoing drilling at Dumbwa (sulphide), Kazhiba (oxide and sulphide), and Mitu (oxide and sulphide) through 2025
IP and geochemical surveys expanding target zones across the Solwezi Dome
Potential near-term cash flow from oxide material processed via First Quantum’s nearby SX/EW facility
New discoveries and resource expansion from multi-phase exploration across three high-grade targets
Conclusion
Midnight Sun is uniquely positioned for both near-term copper production and district-scale discovery upside. Backed by capital, partnered with a major, and drilling multiple Tier-One scale targets—this is a copper story built for the electrified future.
